BAHA is a multi-level Asian BBQ and grill restaurant, cocktail bar, and live music venue in the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere. We're a 2026 Cumbria Tourism Awards finalist for Casual Dining and hold a 5-star food hygiene rating. The food we put out reflects that.
As Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in the overall running of the kitchen, lead the team during service, and take full control of shifts when needed. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Supporting the Executive Chef in the overall running of the kitchen
Running shifts independently when the Executive Chef is not on site
Leading the team during service and maintaining control under pressure
Delivering consistent, high-quality food at volume across a demanding menu
Managing prep, organisation, and service flow
Supporting GP control and reducing waste
Setting standards and holding the team accountable
Ensuring hygiene, compliance, and structure at all times
For this role, we are looking for people who are.
Experienced as a Sous Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
Confident leading a team and running a shift independently
Calm, clear, and in control under pressure
A strong communicator who sets the tone during service
Someone who takes ownership and cares about consistency and standards
Knowledgeable on food safety and hygiene (Level 2 minimum)
Available for evenings, weekends, and peak periods
Ideally, you will have:
Experience working within an Asian BBQ, grill, or similar cuisine-led kitchen
A technology-first approach to kitchen management and stock systems
Experience managing and developing junior kitchen team members
A passion for delivering high-quality food consistently across a busy service
A competent level of English, both spoken and written
Comfortable being on camera (we love to celebrate our staff and shout about what we are doing on social media, so we are always looking for volunteers to hog the limelight)
